Conclusion of Workshop on Quality Management in Libya

The two-day workshop titled “Quality Management in Libya” concluded today, Thursday, May 7, 2026. The event was organized by the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), in cooperation with the Libyan Mine Action Center (LibMAC), and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacities of national staff and partner institutions in applying quality management systems, while promoting the concepts of quality assurance, quality control, monitoring and evaluation, and continuous improvement, in line with the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS). It featured specialized technical presentations, practical exercises, and group discussions addressing the development of national quality management systems, institutional and operational accreditation mechanisms, classification of non-compliance cases, and the design of quality policies, objectives, and performance indicators.
Organizers emphasized that this workshop is part of ongoing efforts to support capacity-building and promote quality within institutions working in mine action and explosive remnants of war. These efforts aim to enhance safety, efficiency, and effectiveness in field operations.
