Conclusion of the First Phase of the Training Program on Mine Risk Awareness and Victim Assistance

The first phase of the training program on mine risk awareness, victim assistance, and psychosocial support has concluded at the General Center for Training and Education Development of the Ministry of Education in Hay Al-Andalus. The program was organized by the Libyan Mine Action Center, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education – Office of Social Service and Mental Health, and in partnership with UNICEF.

The six-day program ran from Tuesday, June 23 to Tuesday, June 30, 2026, with the participation of 48 social workers from the education directorates of Abu Salim, Tajoura, Al-Qarabulli, Al-Maya, Al-Asabaa, Hay Al-Andalus, Tripoli Center, Zawiya Center, Al-Aziziyah, Souq Al-Jumaa, Ain Zara, Zawiya West, Zawiya South, Qasr Bin Ghashir, Al-Maamoura, Al-Nasriya, and Al-Sayah.

The program aimed to strengthen knowledge of the dangers posed by mines and remnants of war, enhance community awareness and prevention skills, and introduce the concept of victim assistance, referral mechanisms, and available services. This initiative is expected to empower social workers to deliver awareness messages within educational institutions and across the wider community.
