GICHD Delegation Explores Mine Action Priorities in Libya

The Libyan Mine Action Center (LibMAC) welcomed a delegation from the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), comprising the Director of Operations and the Regional Field Coordinator, during a working visit to Tripoli.
The three‑day visit included several meetings with national and international stakeholders. On the first day, the delegation met with LibMAC’s Director and Director of Operations to review ongoing activities, discuss current challenges, and exchange perspectives on future priorities and needs.
The delegation also held discussions with representatives of international and local organizations engaged in mine action in Libya, where they reviewed implemented programs and addressed operational challenges in the field. The visit concluded with a meeting at the Ministry of Defense, attended by the Director of the Minister’s Office along with LibMAC’s leadership, focusing on issues related to mine action and explosive remnants of war.
This visit reflects a commitment to strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise and information between LibMAC and GICHD, contributing to the identification of priorities and the development of effective responses to the challenges posed by mines and explosive remnants of war in Libya.
