Senior DRC Delegation Visits the Libyan Mine Action Center

As part of efforts to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise in mine action and the management of explosive remnants of war, the Libyan Mine Action Center (LibMAC) welcomed a delegation from the Danish Refugee Council (DRC), which included:

• Ms. Sonia Joly, Regional Director for Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia.
• Ms. Charlotte Slente, Secretary General of the organization.
• Mr. Yann Faivre, Executive Director for West and North Africa and Latin America.
• Ms. Alexandra Ries, Head of Global Strategic Communications.

The delegation was received by the Center’s Director and the Director of Operations. Discussions focused on ways to benefit from available expertise in mine risk education and victim assistance, as well as exploring opportunities for cooperation in capacity building and technical skills development.
Representatives of DRC expressed their initial readiness to explore avenues of support for the Center in areas of training and capacity building, tailored to the specific needs of mine action and explosive remnants of war. This comes within the framework of enhancing prospects for future collaboration between the two sides.
