Brigadier General Khalil Al-Shabli was recently appointed Director General of the Libyan Mine Action Center following a decision issued by the Ministry of Defense. This appointment is part of efforts to enhance work in the field of mine clearance and war remnants, which pose a major threat to citizens’ lives and an obstacle to Libya’s reconstruction and development.
Brigadier General Khalil Al-Shabli assumed his duties as Director General of the Libyan Mine Action Center, succeeding Brigadier General Ahmed Al-Shibani. The handover ceremony took place at the center’s headquarters in the presence of several officials and employees.
Brigadier General Khalil Al-Shabli expressed his gratitude for assuming this important position and stressed his commitment to exerting all possible efforts to achieve the center’s goals of clearing Libyan lands of war remnants and enhancing cooperation with local and international bodies to implement effective programs in this field.
He added: “Working in the field of mine clearance requires concerted efforts and intensified cooperation with local and international partners to ensure the safety of society and enable citizens to return to their properties safely and peacefully.” It is worth noting that the Libyan Mine Action Center and War Remnants play a pivotal role in addressing the challenges resulting from the spread of mines and explosive remnants of war throughout Libya, as it works to carry out survey, clearance, and awareness operations for affected communities.
Under Brigadier General Khalil Al-Shabli’s leadership, the center looks forward to strengthening its programs and expanding the scope of its operations to achieve its strategic goal of freeing Libya from the dangers of mines and war remnants.
