Libyan Mine Action Center Concludes Second Phase of Training Program on Mine Risk Awareness
The Libyan Mine Action Center (LibMAC) has concluded the second phase of its training program on mine and war remnants risk awareness, victim assistance, and psychosocial support. The program was implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education – Office of Social Service and Mental Health Management, and in partnership with UNICEF, in the cities of Benghazi and Derna.
The program lasted for three training days in each city, with the participation of 53 social workers from the local education directorates in the targeted areas.
The training aimed to strengthen participants’ knowledge of the dangers posed by mines and explosive remnants of war, and to enhance their skills in community awareness and prevention. It also introduced the concept of victim assistance, referral mechanisms, and available services, enabling social workers to deliver awareness messages within schools and communities, and to foster a safer environment for children and families.
This initiative is part of the Libyan Mine Action Center’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of safety, build the capacities of national cadres, and protect society from the risks of mines and war remnants.
