Conclusion of the Training-of-Trainers Course on Quality Management in Mine Action in Libya
The Training-of-Trainers course entitled “Quality Management in Mine Action in Libya” was recently concluded in Tripoli, held from 10 to 19 May 2026. The program was organized by the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), in cooperation with and under the supervision of the Libyan Mine Action Centre (LibMAC), and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
The course aimed to strengthen national capacities in the field of quality management and to prepare qualified national trainers capable of delivering specialized training programs. This initiative contributes to building sustainable training capacities for the mine action sector in Libya.
The program brought together a number of specialists and practitioners in mine action and explosive remnants of war, including representatives of relevant government entities such as the Military Engineering Department and the National Safety Authority, as well as several local and international organizations active in the sector. Participants received both theoretical and practical training focused on:
- Modern training methodologies
- Training needs assessment
- Development of training packages
- Core concepts of quality management in line with the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS)
This course forms part of ongoing efforts to support national capacities and enhance efficiency, quality, and safety in the implementation of mine action activities in Libya.
At the conclusion of the event, the Libyan Mine Action Centre expressed its sincere appreciation to all partners and organizations working in the sector for their continued cooperation and support of humanitarian mine action efforts in Libya.
