Conclusion of the Training Program on Mine and War Remnants Risk Awareness in Zuwara

The Libyan Mine Action Center (LibMAC) concluded the training program on awareness of the risks of mines and war remnants, the concept of victim assistance, and psychosocial support, implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education – Office of Social Service and Mental Health, and in partnership with UNICEF.
The program targeted directors of social service and school health offices within the education directorates of Sorman, Central Zawiya, Riqdalin, Al-Ajilat, Sabratha, Zaltan, and Zuwara, in addition to a number of social workers and psychological counselors from the selected educational directorates.
The training lasted for three days, with the participation of 29 social workers from the targeted areas.
The program aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge of the risks of mines and war remnants, develop their skills in community awareness and prevention, and introduce the concept of victim assistance, referral mechanisms, and available services. This contributes to empowering social workers and psychological counselors to deliver awareness messages within educational institutions and the wider community, fostering a safer environment for children and families.
The implementation of this program comes within the framework of joint efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of mines and war remnants, strengthen the capacities of educational staff, and reduce the risks posed by these remnants.
