An explosion occurred at an ammunition depot in the Skirat area of Misrata, resulting in the dispersal of explosive remnants of war (ERW) across various parts of the city. The incident caused both material damage and human casualties.
In response, and in line with its commitment to ensuring the highest levels of public safety, the Libyan Mine Action Center, affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, launched an emergency risk education campaign targeting areas affected by the spread of unexploded ordnance.
The campaign included 263 awareness sessions, reaching 1,706 individuals\u2014men, women, and children of all age groups. Additionally, 1,941 educational materials were distributed across the following neighborhoods:
Skirat, Agzir, Karzaz, Benghazi Street, and Heavy Transport Road.
These activities were carried out by risk education teams from DCA and LPO, in coordination with the Libyan Mine Action Center. The initiative aims to raise public awareness about the dangers of unexploded ordnance and to encourage prompt reporting of any suspicious or unfamiliar objects.
The Center reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to protecting civilians and fostering a culture of safety in communities affected by conflict remnants, urging all citizens to cooperate and report any potential threats to the relevant authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n
