The Libyan Mine Action Center organized a specialized training course on mine risk education, targeting a group of new volunteers from the Libyan Red Crescent – Tripoli Branch. This initiative is part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national capacities in community awareness and prevention of explosive hazards.
The three-day course included theoretical lectures and practical exercises covering types of landmines and explosive remnants of war, effective awareness strategies, and field safety procedures. Participants were also trained on how to deliver risk education messages to various segments of society, particularly in conflict-affected areas.
Course Objectives:
- Prepare qualified volunteers to lead mine risk awareness campaigns.
- Support community-based prevention efforts and reduce incidents related to war remnants.
- Enhance cooperation between the Libyan Center and the Libyan Red Crescent in humanitarian work.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the training opportunity and affirmed their commitment to actively contribute to awareness campaigns in Tripoli and surrounding areas, helping protect lives and foster a safer environment.
