Tawergha, Libya – As part of national efforts to promote mine risk education, a specialized three-day training course was held in Tawergha from November 4 to 6, 2025. The program targeted a group of social workers employed in the city’s schools, with the aim of preparing and equipping them to carry out awareness activities within educational institutions.
The training covered both theoretical and practical aspects of mine risk education, focusing on safety procedures, communication strategies, and effective engagement with school communities.
This initiative was organized under the supervision and participation of the Libyan Mine Action Center (LIBMAC), in cooperation with the Libyan Peace Organization, and with support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). It reflects a shared commitment to creating safer environments for children and strengthening local capacities to address the legacy of conflict.
Organizers emphasized that this training is part of a broader strategy to empower local actors and integrate mine risk awareness into school systems across affected regions.
