Libyan Mine Action Center Organizes Specialized Workshop on Weapons and Ammunition Management and Safe Storage

A two-day specialized workshop on reducing risks associated with weapons and ammunition management and safe storage was organized jointly by the Libyan Mine Action Center (LibMAC) and HALO Trust, with broad participation from relevant national stakeholders.
LibMAC assumed overall coordination of the workshop, while HALO Trust provided technical and organizational support. This collaboration helped bring together key stakeholders and offered a constructive technical platform to discuss national priority issues in the field of weapons and ammunition management.
The workshop addressed global challenges in weapons and ammunition management, relevant international frameworks and standards, as well as best practices in stockpile management and safe storage. Participants also discussed practical aspects of building ammunition depots, managing weapons and ammunition in transitional contexts, and mechanisms for inter-agency coordination.
The event saw the participation of representatives from several national entities, including security and military bodies, technical specialists, and institutions concerned with national safety, with the aim of strengthening joint coordination and fostering a unified understanding of ways to reduce risks associated with weapons and ammunition.
The workshop concluded with a closing session dedicated to outlining a roadmap and identifying practical priorities for the next phase, supporting the implementation of safer and more sustainable practices in weapons and ammunition management.
