Libyan Mine Action Center Holds Its First Quarterly Meeting for 2026 in Coordination with the United Nations
The Libyan Mine Action Center (LibMAC) held its first quarterly meeting for the year 2026 on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, in coordination with the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS), and with the participation of implementing partners and donor entities. The meeting took place at the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) headquarters, Oya Complex.
The meeting covered a number of key agenda items, beginning with opening remarks delivered by both the Libyan Mine Action Center and UNMAS. This was followed by a presentation on the Center’s activities and operations, as well as an overview of the United Nations mission’s efforts and related mine action activities.
The meeting also included interventions by implementing partners, during which they presented their field activities and shared challenges related to program implementation. In addition, donor representatives delivered remarks highlighting their role in supporting mine action programs in Libya.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the importance of strengthening coordination and unifying efforts among all stakeholders, in order to enhance community safety and reduce the risks posed by landmines and explosive remnants of war in Libya, in support of stability and sustainable development.
