In the Labda Hall of the Corinthia Hotel, Tripoli, the Libyan Mine Action Center held a celebration this morning, Thursday, May 9, 2024, on the International Day for Mine Awareness, in the presence of a number of ambassadors of brotherly and friendly countries, officials from a number of specific ministries and office directors in the Ministry of Defense… The general program included A welcome speech from the Director of the Center, followed by a speech from the Ministry of Defense delivered by the Director of the Office of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law, then a visual presentation from the Center’s staff showing statistics and data on mine victims and the awareness and field efforts undertaken by the Center, followed by a similar presentation by the United Nations mission. For support in Libya, it detailed the efforts made in this field in cooperation with the Libyan Centre. After that, detailed presentations were made of the efforts of organizations working in the field of clearing mines and educating segments of society about their danger and how to deal with them.
The day concluded with a tour inside the pavilions of the organizations that work alongside the center.
